Michael Schramme

Academic Background

Michael Schramme qualified from the Rijksuniversiteit Gent, Belgium, in 1985. He has since worked as an equine surgeon at the University of Ghent, the Royal Veterinary College, the Animal Health Trust, Cornell University, North Carolina State University and the Ecole Nationale Veterinaire de Lyon in France, where he is a full professor in equine surgery.

Professor Schramme is a diplomate of the European and American Colleges of Veterinary Surgeons, the European College of Veterinary Sports Medicine and Rehabilitation, and an associate of the European College of Veterinary Diagnostic Imaging. He is a past President of the European College of Veterinary Surgeons and the European Society of Veterinary Orthopaedics and Traumatology. He has an interest in all aspects of equine surgery, lameness and diagnostic imaging with special emphasis on MRI and regenerative medicine.
