Academic Background
Cathy graduated from the University of Sydney in 1991 and went on to do both her internship in equine medicine and surgery and PhD in equine exercise physiology at Sydney University. She then spent several years in private equine practice before starting a clinical academic career in the UK in 1999 at the Royal Veterinary College (RVC), London. Despite her early clinical career and PhD dominated by racehorses and exercise physiology, her career in clinical academia has allowed her to research Equine PPID, Metabolic Syndrome and endocrinopathic laminitis which started at The Royal Veterinary College UK, and continued through posts at the University of Queensland, University of Helsinki, Finland the University of Liverpool where she is Emeritus Professor in Equine Internal Medicine. She is a diplomate of the European College of Equine Internal Medicine and RCVS Recognised Specialist In Equine Internal Medicine.
